Fischerei in Europa. Warum die EU-Bestände bedroht sind. Was die Forschung weiß.
The article „Fischereipolitik in der Krise“ (fishery politicis in crisis), published on November 30th on geo.de, summarizes the main conflicts and problems of Europe’s fishery policies during the last 30 years. The idea is to explain the formal structure of this policy field as well as to look behind its scenes since this is rarely done in media. The key question, how such a political disaster could have happened under the eyes of the public and in spite of numerous scientific warnings and studies, is answered with the help of historical back steps, expert quotes and subjective explanations of the author, too. Finally, the article touches various other fishery topics such as MSY (as a science topic) and aquaculture (as an economical issue) in order to prepare a whole multidimensional serial on GEO.de about fisheries in Europe and worldwide. The package has six parts and works with different elements such as videos, audios, photo reports, interviews and infoboxes.
